I Gotta Go!: A Must-Have for Every Stage of Potty Training

I Gotta Go!: A Must-Have for Every Stage of Potty Training

Whether or not this catchy 10-song music video will inspire your tot to master the potty, it will certainly provide 24 minutes of happy diversion. There are no preachy stories here. In fact there’s no talking at all until a pediatrician and a producer (and mommy of three) make their appearances for less than five minutes at the end. Before that it’s singing and dancing by bigger kids, potty-sitting by the youngsters, a diaper-wearing chimp doing both, and cartoon interludes. The songs address all aspects of potty training from washing hands, to sticker rewards, to toilet-training’s role as a rite of passage. The reggae-drenched “Bye Bye Diapers, Hello Fun” and “Me Potty Wotty” are infectious and the rap-infused “I Have the Power” is positively soulful. By sticking with big kids as the inspiration rather than adults, this program may just inspire little ones to get on the potty–or at least get up and dance. (Ages 1 and older) –Kimberly Heinrichs

5 Stars Hottie For The Potty
Absolutely love this video. My daughter asks to watch it all the time. We dance and sing with it. We also sing the songs as we do all of our potty stuff. Would recommend it to anyone. We have the Elmo video but I think not having actual kids doing the act of potty use it really didn’t click. This video has tons of little kids in it. So I think my daughter really identified with it.

5 Stars I Gotta Go Got My Kids Going
We used this video to help get my daughter familiar with the mechanics of potty training. After watching the video a couple of times her interest in going potty skyrocketed. A month later we did the big switch to underwear and she never looked back.

Last month I decided to start seeing if my 2 1/2 yr old son would take an interest in potty training if we started reading books and watching a video. Unfortunately it’s been 5 years since we trained my daughter and the only training videos I could find was Big Bear, Elmo and Potty Power.

I purchased ‘Potty Power’ thinking it was this video since it also has a song about potty power. None of the other videos spurred his interest, he barely paid attention & totally lost his interest. This morning he watched the ‘I Gotta Go’ video twice (at his request) and he peed in the potty without help or prompting twice!!! Wow…what results. Hopefully he’ll keep going like my daughter.

My only warning about this video is the songs are very catchy - I find them going through my own head. Ironically my 7 year old daughter remembered the words to most the songs and the name of the chimpanzee!

1 Stars This Video Is Age Inappropriate!
This video is to say the least, very least, is plain old stupid. A majority of the children in the video are well over the age of five years old, participating in poor dance routines that really have nothing at all to do with the potty, and at time dancing somewhat provocatively. The tape is way too upbeat in order to get down to business. The child will want to get up and dance instead of sit down on the potty. I agree with a prior review though… My jaw almost hit the floor when I heard the song “Hottie For The Potty”. How inappropriate can a child’s tape get? I am embarrassed that someone would even produce this tape and had I not purchased it on ebay, I would return it. This a is a poor tape for potty training. I would recommend Once Upon A Potty or Potty Power. They are excellent and have actual toddlers using the toilet with no lewd lyrics. .

5 Stars Potty Video
My son loves the video and will watch it over and over. a few times he actually went on his own

4 Stars The Daycare Kids Love it
I am a home daycare provider. I own 7 potty training Videos/dvd’s. This one isn’t the best but it most defiantly is not the worst. I Gotta Go is cute music video to help potty train toddlers. My daycare kids love it. They sing and dance to it. The kids are getting excited about being potty trained. Including a very stubborn 3 and half yr old. I Gotta Go is a very nice addition to my collection and one that I do play it often. I give it 4 and half stars.

The other Potty Training Vidoes / dvds I own are:

Sesame Street - Elmo’s Potty Time

Has at least 2 long boring parts and encourages who are already kids potty trained to have accidents. Because it has a long song and dance number about having accidents.

Once Upon a Potty for Him. Has Babies dancing with potty seats, putting potties on their heads, has a baby with diapers drooping to the knees among other strange things.

It’s Potty Time

I love this one but it does have 2 things that have always bothered me. One the clown at the party takes the boys the go to the bathroom not the parents. And two a little tiny man is in the bathroom withe little girl while is on the toilet

I Can Go Potty! This DVD is mostly for parents and not the kids to watch

Bear in the Big Blue House - Potty Time with Bear This in wonderful kids who are already trained but have accidents from time to time. Potty Time with Bear show kids what accidents and how to avoid them. Very sweetly done.

Potty Power:

It is set up like a kids game show kinda like Blue’s Clues. Potty Power gets the kids excited about using the potty. Potty Power has delightful songs and makes kids want watch.
