Disconnected Kids: The Groundbreaking Brain Balance Program for Children with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Other Neurological Disorders

Disconnected Kids: The Groundbreaking Brain Balance Program for Children with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Other Neurological Disorders

A proven drug-free program addressing the cause—not just the symptoms—of Autism Spectrum Disorders and related conditions.

Each year, an estimated 1.5 million children are diagnosed with autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. But even as rates rise, diagnosis and treatment have not changed in 50 years. Since psychiatric drugs, given to more than 20% of elementary school children today, don’t cure them, doctors tell parents these dysfunctions will never disappear.

Enter Dr. Robert Melillo and his new understanding of the causes of these disorders: a disconnection between the left and right sides of the developing brain. His revolutionary Brain Balance™ program has achieved documented results, dramatically improving children’s and families’ quality of life. Since 1998, nearly 1,000 children have completed the Brain Balance™ program with remarkable success—behavioral, emotional, academic, and social. Written in an accessible style, Disconnected Kids shows parents how to use this drug- free approach at home, with customizable exercises for physical, sensory, and academic performance, advice for behavior modification, information on foods to avoid, and a follow-up program for lasting results.

4 Stars Some Understandable Answers
This highly readable book provides practical insights into the causes of a number of developmental problems, and specific, useful suggestions on how to help address those problems.

It is written plain terms an average parent can understand, but founded on a decade of research. The layout walks you through background and thinking behind the program, how to assess if your child may be effected, and then provides suggestions and activites that can help. Several people have said they I know have as they became absorbed in the book.

The successes from his program attest to the validity of the causes and the effectiveness of the approach. This is a must read for any parent with a child demonstrating any ADHD, autistic spectrum, learning disorder, Dyslexia or other developmental challenges.

5 Stars User-friendly neurology
Dr. Melillo gives very clear and specific information about brain hemisphericity, which is common in children on the autism spectrum, and in children with ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia. He is a well respected neurologist, researcher, and post-graduate level lecturer, but he has written a user-friendly guide for parents. The book has specific recommendations for games and exercises that can strengthen underdeveloped regions of the brain. Since many children with these challenges have trouble digesting food and absorbing nutrients, he presents nutritional advice as well.

5 Stars Must Read!
If you’re a parent interested in the subject of neurobehavioral disorders, then you MUST read this book. In fact, it’s written for YOU. This is an easy to understand book that will give you some great information about conditions like ADD/ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and Asperger’s. Definitely check it out b/c this is a breakthrough approach I’ve personally seen work.

5 Stars Ground Breaking Therapy
Execellent book that bridges the gap between the two extreme views (skeptics and over-reactionairies) of Autism, ADHD, and similar conditions of our children. I suspect some of the same methods can be used to treat Alzheimer’s in older adults.

5 Stars Disconnected Kids
Excellent book on the many disorders seen in children. Very informative

offering valuable suggestions that parents can do for their children as an alternative to medicine that really gets to the heart of the problem. We have implemented the diet and have had great success.
