5 Stars Wonderfull
I am about to be a stepfather and heard of this book on the local Christian radio station. I love this book. It gives so much insight and good healthy advise. And even as a grown man, it mad me look back at myself and my childhood opened my eyes to many things.
5 Stars Spot On and Required Reading
If you are a parent of a boy, know a parent of a boy, or will ever work with boys, this is required reading. The authors take you through the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of boys, with special care to highlight both healthy and normal development, as well as where lack of parental and community support can leave a boy stranded. Taking the best of accepted developmental psychology along with their clinical expertise, and mixing in a good bit of personal confession from their own lives and adventures with their boys, they highlight the perils and joys of living with the Wild Things. Beware though, their extensive resource list will have you hunting for more books to read (though that’s not always a bad thing!).
5 Stars Makes me excited about the possibilities with my son
Growing up most of my life with just sisters and then raising a daughter, I felt ill-prepared for raising my son. I was given this book as a gift and found myself absolutely captivated by it, reading every chapter as quickly as I could. I now feel I’ve been given some tools to help me in the journey ahead and I want to give it to every family with boys that I know. It honestly makes me excited to raise my son into a man of character, comfortable with a whole range of emotions, and confident in himself. It even helps me understand my husband better (and appreciate the great job his parents did with him!!!).
5 Stars A must read for any Christian family with boys
I absolutely love this book. It has provided quite interesting insights into who my little man is. It also brought up questions and topics I wanted to discuss with my husband. If it were not for the book, I would not have known to bring it up.
4 Stars Great Insight
Boys are definitely different from girls! I am the mother of two sons and the grandmother of six grandsons aged 5-10 years. My daughter-in-laws are doing a great job raising their sons but I thought this book would add to their already rich resources of parenting advice. Before giving it to them on Mother’s Day, I read it to help me better understand the changes already occurring in the older boys and I certainly wish I’d had this information when my sons were growing up. Hopefully I won’t repeat my mistakes with my sensational six. The authors discuss topics and situations most mothers and fathers will encounter during their sons’ growing years with humor, medical explanation, and emotional sensitivity. Specific examples are given, common responses discussed followed with suggestions for responses that help boys understand themselves and guide them toward constructive behavior that allows them to develop into the young men we hope they will become. Although grandparents are in the background, it’s good to know we can help not hurt while supporting parents with this most important job. I highly recommend.
